This week our field trip is on Thursday. We will paddle the lower Kinni gorge from Glen Park in River Falls to Kinnickinnic State Park.
This trip is for experienced paddlers or intermediate paddlers willing to challenge themselves and maybe take an accidental swim :)
You should be able to read the river for the best path to take, to steer your kayak around turns and obstacles and be capable of getting to shore to drain your boat if you wipe out. There are some rocks, and we will scrape a little along the way. Bring a dry bag with dry clothes in case you need at the end.
We usually take about 3-4 hours (not including shuttling time on either end) with stops for lunch and to swim along the way. Bring a lunch/snack and water/beverages.
There is a longer portage down a steep slope at the start. You may need to purchase an $11 day pass for the state park lot if you don't have a pass.
Join with your own kayak and gear for no charge (other than parking fee at the park). Or we may have a limited number of rentals available if you check with us in advance.
Email us by Wednesday at noon if you plan to join, and we will figure out shuttles and where/when to meet in advance based on who is coming. Contact us by email booking@twincitieskayaking.com
Start is Glen Park, end of Park Street near the Pickleball Courts.
